Apart from the Ethical and Philosophical reasons another reason for OSDE.INFO is that Free Libre Open GPL software packages are often MultiPlatform so you only have to learn the interface once !

For example here is a picture of UBUNTU, GnomeDesktop & FireFox running on an Intel PC and PowerPC iMAC
